Stevie Wonder and a Bloomin' Bridge

Several days ago we needed to expand our souls, lungs, and horizon. We took a jaunt to old fave, Lake Lure which, per usual, never disappoints. After a soothing waterfront lunch, we ambled around the town park where we took a seat to watch boats and shimmery currents, waiting for a bygone breeze of a simpler, recent era. Behind our bench, a woman with a fanny pack staggered against her ebullient labradoodle. An elderly man with sunglasses and sass rolled by, gripping his motorized walker while listening to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition". A young couple took in the views from a pontoon boat while their toddler waved at us with the free abandon of non-adulterated innocence.
As always, we could not resist the magical pull of the ever-expanding Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. The beauty berries, peanut butter tree, and butterflies vied for attention, but we laughed out loud at the "Doggy Stick" display. And whoever thought of turning paving stones into well known tomes? These are the globally strange days of knowing when you need to take a stroll as if you're four again and just holding Nature's hand.
